Trevian Funds transaction closed – the company’s new name is Mandatum AM AIFM Ltd

Mandatum Asset Management Ltd has acquired the shares of Trevian Funds AIFM Ltd through a transaction that closed on 2 September 2021. Mandatum AM AIFM Ltd. will be the new name of the company, which manages alternative funds and is licensed by the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority. As a result of the transaction, Mandatum Asset Management Group’s real estate team will grow by 15 real estate professionals and its assets under management will increase by more than EUR 300 million.

Emilia Riikonen has been appointed as the CEO of Mandatum AM AIFM Ltd and Risto Aro has been appointed as its Head of Real Estate Investments.

“We are delighted to be able to join forces. The transaction will enable strong growth in fund operations and continue to deliver sustainable returns to investors, and our experienced professionals will play a key role in this,” says Riikonen.

The real estate fund managed by Mandatum AM AIFM acquires properties that require real estate expertise and active management in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and in Finland’s regional growth centres. All of the fund’s investments place a special emphasis on sustainability.

“The fund’s investment strategy is well aligned with our real estate market insight. We believe that focusing on actively managed properties that are also outside of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area can boost returns without additional risk. This same active management and opportunism is emphasized in all of MAM’s in-house direct real estate investments in our home market as well as in our investments with external managers across Europe,” says Lauri Vaittinen, CEO of Mandatum Asset Management Ltd.

Mandatum Asset Management manages more than EUR 1 billion in real estate investments: five strategies that invest in properties across Finland and the Mandatum AM European Real Estate programme, which invests in European real estate strategies with external managers.

Mandatum Asset Management (MAM) engages in fund business and provides Sampo Group with discretionary and consultative wealth management and asset management services. Mandatum Asset Management manages around EUR 24 billion in assets and employs more than 120 investment professionals. Mandatum Asset Management belongs to the Sampo Group and is a sister company of Mandatum Life Insurance Company Limited.
