Stakeholder co-operation

Mandatum’s way of cooperating with stakeholders is based on working together and listening and informing relevant stakeholders. At Mandatum, responsibility for stakeholder cooperation is decentralised, which means that each business function or unit has responsibilities related to the theme. Continous dialogue with stakeholders provides information on what stakeholders consider important and what is expected of Mandatum as a company. By investing in stakeholder cooperation, the company is able to proactively take into account the needs and whishes of stakeholders and prevent and mitigate potential risks, such as feelings of uncertainty or dissatisfaction among key stakeholders.

Since 2017, Mandatum has worked together with WWF Finland to promote responsible investment and to mitigate climate change.

Mandatum strives to promote sustainable development also through partnerships with organisations and foundations, including Finland’s Sustainable Investment Forum (Finsif), and the corporate responsibility network FIBS.

Mandatum is an investor member of the Finnish Venture Capital Association (FVCA) and participates in activities through the association’s various working groups (e.g. regulation, sustainable finance and ESG) as an ordinary or deputy member.

Mandatum collaborates with educational institutions and takes part in various fairs and seminars.

Donations

Mandatum supports many different projects and donates to charities. Decisions on donations are made by Mandatum plc’s Board of Directors. Through donations and other humanitarian efforts, Mandatum seeks to create positive change in society and support communities in which the company and its employees are present.

Mandatum works together with the Tukikummit foundation to prevent the marginalisation of children and young people in Finland. Through the foundation, Mandatum donates accident insurance to children of families in difficult situations. The cooperation started in 2014 and to date, more than 4,000 children have received accident insurance.

Voluntary work

Mandatum has a programme for its employees’ voluntary work and HR administration is in charge of arranging the voluntary work. Each year, employees can use eight working hours for voluntary work, for example at charity organisations. This could involve offering professional expertise to someone in need of it or providing some other kind of support in an area important to the employee.

Tax footprint

Mandatum is a major and responsible taxpayer and complying with tax obligations is an important part of the Group companies’ business and responsibility. Mandatum was the single largest corporate tax payer in the financial sector in 2017–2021, with a total of EUR 301.9 million paid in corporate tax during this period.

Mandatum operates openly and responsibly in all areas of tax and works closely with tax authorities to ensure that all tax payments are fair and follow legislation.
